I called them to inspect a cabinet electrical outlet because the microwave that was plugged into that outlet was not working. I spoke to Robert (presumably the owner) and he said that the callout charge was $100. The person who he sent out spent less than 10 minutes in my Manhattan apartment and said that there was a short in the outlet. I asked him what the price would be and he said that he had to check with his boss Robert. He then left saying that he had to find some parts. He returned after 30 minutes and I asked him again what the cost would be. He then called Robert and said that it would cost $1100, later reduced to $1000 and the previous installation was not to code. I spoke to Robert and he started aggressively lecturing me about the costs in Manhattan. I said that I would get a second opinion about the high cost. He then demanded $250, even though he had previously stated that the callout charge was $100. The person he sent spent a total of 15-20 minutes total in my apartment. His rude and threatening manner was completely unprofessional and his demand for $250 felt like extortion. I have later found out through my own inquiries that the electrical outlet installation was signed off by both the project as well as the building architect as part of a recent kitchen renovation prior to our purchasing the unit so it is highly unlikely that it would not be to code. Avoid this place at all costs. I am also complaining to the BBB.
