Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen

It’s pretty simple, actually. The Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen in Cookeville, Tennessee is all about good food, made well, for a good price. How do we pull that off? By cooking from scratch. That’s our secret ingredient, and it makes for great tasting food at an even better value. What does that mean exactly for people of Cookeville? That means Santa Fe Spinach Dip or Cheddar's Cheese Fries after a Golden Eagles home game. It means huge Painkiller cocktails (the limit is 2 per person for a reason!) to celebrate the end of a long work week. It's warm, made-in-house Honey Butter Croissants and hand-breaded Chicken Tenders piled high that are perfect for sharing (or not! We won't judge!) If you want to get a lot, for not a lot - give us a shot! We are located just south of the University area. And we will show you what you've been missing.

I've eaten here twice in the last two weeks and both times the food was delicious and the service was terrific! I had a sirloin steak with a side salad the first time..and I was pleasantly surprised in the salad. It had grated boiled egg and croutons in addition to plenty of grated cheese ( & a couple cherry tomatoes I think) and it was very fresh tasting. In the past Cheddar's salads were pretty much just bagged salad mix with a tablespoon of cheese. The second time I had baby back ribs with glazed carrots and a loaded baked potato. The ribs were very, very good and I also enjoyed the flavor of the carrots. The baked potato was fine but only had a small bit of sour cream with some melted grated cheddar on top....not exactly what I would call a 'loaded' baked potato...even some butter would've helped. I will say it was a regular side option and I didn't pay extra for it to be loaded (extra loaded?) So maybe they just need to change how it's listed on the menu. And of course, those fabulous flaky croissants they bring out while you wait for your food....light, flaky and drizzled with honey. You could make a meal out of those alone! Highly recommend just for those alone.

Came on for birthday dinner and ordered the Grilled Shrimp Alfredo, salad, and the Sirloin Steak and Coconut Shrimp. Tried the Spinach Dip appetizer, which could have been warmer, but was still tasty. The steak was cooked just right for medium and seasoned nicely. The Alfredo sauce was very good - great flavor. Server did an excellent job. Only offsetting experience was the dirty bathroom, which was disgusting. Should be periodic checks. Otherwise, our meal was very good.

Our male waiter is the best we ever have had. I forgot his name but know he used to be a Norman. He was top of everything. Made a great dinner out. Our Pastor, his wife & my husband & I had a great meal ads well. But the waiter made it enjoyable. Thank You. Please let him know how much we appreciated. And will ask for him every visit.

I go there probably at least once a month. Every single time it is amazing food and awesome service. It’s one of the only places I will actually wait when there is a wait. Heck I’ve waited 45 mins before because the food and service is just that good! So if you’re out and about and feeling hungry swing in you will not be disappointed!

Got take out salads. They were great! The family salads are a great deal. Tried to order in app. It wasn't working. Finally called in. Quick service. Lady who brought our order out was friendly and prompt.
